BBQ Sauce


My favorite BBQ sauce used to be Sweet Ray’s, until I read the ingredients.  The first ingredient listed was high fructose corn syrup, which means that it was used in the greatest amount.  It also contained a preservative, so I decided I was going to try making my own sauce.

Seriously, it is really easy and I don’t miss the high fructose corn syrup at all.

1 15 oz tomato sauce
1 6 oz tomato paste
1 clove garlic
3 T apple cider vinegar
2 T Worcester sauce
1 T brown sugar
1 T blackstrap molasses
freshly ground pepper


Combine all ingredients into a sauce pan and bring to a simmer using medium heat.  Reduce to low and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes.  Stir frequently so that the ingredients don’t stick to the pan.
