This blog documents our restorative remodeling projects as first time homeowners. Our design style is ZEN FARMHOUSE, a marriage of my asian heritage to my husband’s Ohio roots. Design choices are based on function, aesthetics, cost, footprint, and living in harmony with our environment.

After 5 years of house hunting, we made our first home purchase – hooray! Special thanks to our realtor Jane Elizabeth, and loan officer Amanda, who walked two property virgins through our first home buying process!
We purchased an 80’s fixer-upper. The broken doorbell and termite damaged doorframe represent the parts of our psyche that are wounded, and as we clean, fix and improve our home, I like to think that we are helping to heal a part of the world.
Our color palette incorporates the earth tones of the Ohio State Buckeyes – scarlet and gray! For paint, we decided to use the zero-voc AFM Safecoat and Sherwin Williams. Climbing the rafters to paint required balance and coordination, and offered an excellent opportunity to practice mindful breathing and connection to the muscles for each movement of brush stroke.
Special thanks to my parents for their hard work & prayers so that my brother and I receive an excellent education, my brother for teaching me how to be my own webmaster, our interior designer Jane, friends/family & clients for giving me a chance to make money doing something I love, Viv & Drew and DGP, all my yoga friends and teachers, Joel Osteen for re-lighting my faith in God. My husband Kevin my “ribs”, and the Creator of us all.
With Gratitude

Hello there! I’m a new mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an environmentalist, a yogi, an artist, a dreamer. I’m slightly crunchy with a twist of zen. By trade, I’m a LEED consultant, which means that I help design build teams achieve the prestigious green building certification. It’s not always easy being green when you have a baby. Cloth diapers help A LOT, and I am getting pretty darn good at washing dirty diapers!
My brother helped me build the original Interiors For Healing website when I needed a platform to sort through my thoughts and make sense of the radical health ideas I read in various Feng Shui and holistic/spiritual books. Then it evolved to my business site for my Professional Organizing and Painting business, which I have “graduated” from.
The site expanded to this blog where I share my passion for holistic health, self improvement and all things green. One of my favorite health beliefs is that water and chronic hydration is the cure for almost everything! As I feel so moved, I will be transferring my notes from Joel Osteen, Deepak Chopra, Og Mandino, Louis Hay, Gregg Braden, Paul Hawken, and many many others. I may even voice an opinion or three… As we help light each other up, I believe it is making the world a better place for all.
If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person; there will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house; there will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation; there will be peace in the world.
