Organic chocolate ice cream

ice creamI was very surprised how easy it was to make this.   I already had all the ingredients, and even cleaned out my pantry of chocolate chips and sugar leftover from previous recipes.  Best of all, I didn’t need an ice cream maker!    (Thanks to my friend Yangok for the recipe, and next time I will make a vegan version using dates instead of sugar and hemp or coconut milk)

2 cups organic milk
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup organic cane sugar
chocolate chips

1.  Chill metal container in freezer.

2.  Heat 2 cups milk in sauce pan.

3.  In a separate bowl, mix 4 egg yolks with 1/2 cup sugar.  Add hot milk little by little.

4.  Transfer back to sauce pan to heat.  Stir occassionally, until it boils and remove from heat.  Add chocolate chips and stir well until melted and combined.  Add walnuts (optional).

5.  Transfer to pre chilled metal pan.  Stir to cool before placing in freezer for 45 minutes.

6.  Remove from freezer for quick stir and break up any lumps of ice.  Place back in freezer again for 45 minutes.

7.  Take out from freezer and mix again.  Then place for 1.5 hours.

8.  Serve and enjoy!
