Refreshing watermelon slushie

According to Livestrong, “watermelon is one of the best sources of glutathione. It has 28 mg per 100-g serving.”

Glutathione is a micronutrient abundantly found in raw fruits, vegetables and nuts.  Dr. Mark Hyman calls it “the mother of all antioxidants.”  He writes in the Huffington Post, “It’s the most important molecule you need to stay healthy and prevent disease.” Glutathione is made by three amino acids:  cystiene, glycine and glutamine, and helps protect cells from free-radicals, toxins and heavy metals.

So I want to share my favorite way to eat watermelons and stay cool with this simple yet refreshing slushie.

4 cups watermelon cubes
1 cup of ice cubes

Wash the outside of the watermelon.  Cut into small cubes.  Fill a blender about 3/4 full with watermelon pieces.  Add ice cubes to fill the blender.  Pulse until smooth and frosty. Serve and enjoy.  Makes about 5 cups.
